Elon Musk donates 1M trees and changes Twitter name to Treelon

Elon Musk donated 1,000,000 trees to teamtrees.org and celebrated by changing his Twitter name to Treelon. Musk then tweeted out a quote from Treebeard, the eldest Ent in Lord of The Rings and dedicated his generous donation to the Tolkien character.

This is all very fitting as Elon’s name literally means “tree” in Hebrew. It’s all coming together. Thanks to r/dankmemes for pointing that one out.

Elon (אֵילוֹן in Hebrew), is a masculine first name, or Jewish surname, which means “tree” or “oak tree” in the Hebrew language. Variants of the name include Alon, Eilan, Eilon, Elan, Ilan and Ilon.

Elon held first place for most trees donated until yesterday when he was beaten by Tobi Lutke, CEO of Shopify, who donated 1,000,001 tress “for the Lorax.”

Other notable tree donors include Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey and the country of Ukraine.

Thanks to the upsurge in popularity from donations by celebrity figures, as of today, the #teamtrees goal of 20 million is over halfway complete.
