The first thing you’ll notice about the Omen 15 is its subtle design, which is a touch more polished than previous versions since they didn’t want to give it a gaming laptop vibe. The overall construction is excellent. The magnesium alloy adds strength without increasing weight. The chassis flux is moderate. It’s a thermal design that Asus uses in some of their products, but when you have this ergo lift procedure, the hot air often gets released. Hot air flows out the back and sides on a typical laptop, but since the hinge style is different, the hot air comes out and hits the screen.

I enjoy these keyboards. I discovered one quirk that is unique to the white model since the illumination on these keys isn’t very bright. These silver reflective keys are challenging to see with the backlighting on; in fact, it is easier to see these keys even in the dark with the backlighting turned off. It doesn’t operate well in low-light situations. The keys themselves are appropriately spaced, and the layouts are decent and responsive; I believe most people will appreciate this keyboard. You may also log in by pressing the fingerprint sensor on the top right of the power button. The trackpad is quite basic; nothing out of the ordinary about it. The drivers work nicely, and there are hardware buttons for volume control and your ROG software, which you can use to launch your ROG.

This is a 15.6-inch screen. Our testing model boasts a 144-hertz refresh rate, which provides a better gaming experience. It also has a full HD resolution of 19201080, with excellent deep blacks, white points, and contrast. The Delta e-score is very good, so the color accuracy is good. It also covers the color gamut, 96 percent sRGB, 72 percent Adobe RGB, 73 percent of the p3 wide color gamut, and 67 percent NTSC, making this a good choice for content creators who do Lightroom, Photoshop, and video editing.

The 325 nits are bright enough for indoor and outdoor usage, mainly as this is a matte display, which eliminates any additional glare or reflections that a glossy display would have. I like that they went with a flat display; if you’re a gamer, you’ll also love it.

The two sides and the top bezel are relatively narrow in terms of bezels. As you can see, the bottom bezel has a thick bezel, and I believe they did a great job with this display; if you’re a gamer, go with the 144hz panel.

Asus ROG Zephyrus G14

In terms of display, the first has a 1440p 60 Hertz screen, while the second has a 1080p 120 Hertz panel. It’s great to see a 14-inch high-resolution screen, but I believe the 1080p 120-hertz display would pique more people’s curiosity.

This is a unique product since I don’t think there are any other 14-inch or smaller screens with a high refresh rate like this. It is technically a 120 Hertz panel, but it doesn’t feel like it; something seems slow on the screen, maybe the reaction time. It outperforms a 60 Hertz screen in terms of reaction time. The only thing that might go wrong is the screen’s reaction speed for optimal gaming.

The Omen 15 begins at $850, including the Ryzen 5 engine, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a full HD 15.6-inch display. Our evaluation machine costs $1250 and includes a Ryzen 7 4800H processor, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660Ti GPU, 16 gigabytes of RAM, and 512 gigabytes of SSD storage, and the 144-hertz display.

In addition to the Ryzen version, there is an Intel version with a Core i7 10750H 10th generation Intel CPU with six cores. It also has the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super with Max-Q eight gigabytes of video memory and 16 gigabytes of DDR4 RAM, and a 4K OLED option, which the Ryzen model does not have.

HP makes it simple to access the insides of this laptop. There’s a lot of upgradeability here, with two RAM ports for RAM upgrades, two SSD slots for more storage, and our review device includes optional Wi-Fi 6, which you may want to upgrade when checking out. When it comes to audio, the HP Omen 15 has a lot of loudness, which is positive. It doesn’t have the finest mids or bass, but it’s sufficient. Many of you will use gaming headphones with this. So it’s not going to be much of a problem because gaming headphones are considerably better in terms of audio.

It just takes a few screws to get inside, and once inside, you can see the red PCB. It’s a single PCIe SSD, so you can’t put in super-fast drives, but it’s enough. The Wi-Fi card is located underneath the SSD, and they provide you with an Intel Wi-Fi 6 card, which is fantastic.

There is just one user-serviceable RAM slot. Therefore, there is onboard RAM that the manufacturer has activated, and then you may change one stick. Because it’s an AMD CPU, you’ll want to make sure you’re running two channels and that there’s always something in that RAM slot. This laptop features an AniMe Matrix screen option, which enables you to personalize the rear LED array to perform a variety of things. You may have animated GIFs, a logo, and various other things. It’s a personalization that you don’t get to see very often.

Performance

HP Omen 15 AMD

When it comes to performance, our review model is powered by the AMD Ryzen 4800H, an 8-core CPU with 16 threads that I found to be a respectable performer for both productivity and gaming activities. Because this is a gaming laptop, we ran a series of tests to see how well it performs in gaming at high settings, 1080p playable frame rates for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, GTA 5, Borderlands 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, and other titles. Overall, this is an excellent gaming laptop.

With its default settings, the HP Omen may become a touch toasty on the bottom, and it can get a little warm under a high load. When gaming, be sure to place it on a desk or table. HP says this is the first laptop to use an IR Thermopile Sensor, allowing more consistent fan management to keep the device quiet and calm.

Now, when gaming, I measured the temperature of the central keyboard between the G and H keys to be about 39 degrees Celsius or 102 degrees Fahrenheit. The touchpad cooled down to 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit), which isn’t awful in terms of cooling. The bottom of the laptop was the warmest, reaching 56 degrees Celsius (133 degrees Fahrenheit), which was pretty heated.

Asus ROG Zephyrus G14

These gadgets are efficient. It boasts excellent performance for multi-core applications because of its eight-core, 16-thread architecture. In Adobe Premiere, it outperforms Razer blade. Response time (Gaming capabilities)

We measure the pixels’ response time using the standard “black-to-white” and “white-to-black” techniques from 10% to 90% and vice versa.

Both computers had a reaction time of fewer than 10 milliseconds. The Strix G15, on the other hand, has a somewhat quicker Fall + Rise time of 9.5 ms.

PWM – Screen flickering
